The dual CMU|FCUL Master of Science in Information Security presented an excellent opportunity for establishing long-lasting relations of several companies of the ICT circuit in Portugal, in the security and dependability domain. This relation continued in the present form, FCUL-centered MSI. Several companies have been showing great interest in the program since its inception. A few of those went further, in establishing more intense partnerships with FCUL, in the form of joining the training partnership program, or cooperating with FCUL in research projects, involving their MSI students or alumni. For example, encouraged by the excellent results obtained by its employees in the first editions of the dual CMU|FCUL Master of Science in Information Security, Portugal Telecom has created the PT Security Lab, announced at the end of 2008. PT has actually made the lab bootstrap practically with students graduated by MSIT-IS, and the security lab has catalised several of the security related activities in PT.

EDP – the largest Portuguese power supplier – has decided to send several of its co-workers attend the MSI program, confirming the success of its strategy of encompassing critical infrastructure security (e.g. embedded systems), as well as the more classic information security, which has made it a unique offer at international level.

Main companies that have been involved in the MSI program and/or in projects with FCUL in the context of training, promotion and implementation of best practices in security and dependability:
